All MediconPro surgical instruments are manufactured to last a long life. However they way surgical instruments are used plays crucial role in sustained performance of surgical instruments.
General Tips
1. All surgical instruments are designed for specific purpose and improper use may result into damage of a surgical instrument. Therefore it is advised to use the surgical instrument for appropriate purpose.
2- It is advised to handle surgical instruments gently and avoid dropping and bouncing.
3- Cleaning of surgical instruments is of utmost importance. Therefore clean instruments immediately after use to avoid blood or debris drying on to the surface of instrument which is difficult to remove. Try using cleaning solutions with pH equal to 7. Wash instrument thoroughly with distilled water after using cleaning solutions. Use distilled water for sterilization as well.
4- For tungsten carbide tipped instruments especially, make sure that the the detergents and lubricants pH neutral otherwise they will damage the tungsten carbide tip.
5- Immediately after cleaning dip instruments in a water-soluble lubricant. The protection film of the lubricant should remain on the instrument throughout sterilization and storage.
6- Use soft brushes instead of any metal brushes as metal brushes destroy passivation layer on the surface of surgical instruments.
7- Never mix stainless steel instruments with instruments made from other metals especially in the ultrasonic cleaner as this would lead to electrolysis and hence corrosion on the stainless steel instruments. Always keep stained or corroded instruments away from impeccable stainless steel instruments.
8- Use clean autoclave and preheat the autoclave, do not rush the drying time.
